The Love Story

the love story - god loves youThe love story of all time is that God loves you. Yes, God loves you more than anyone else ever could, would, can or will. God loves you so much that He gave His only Son so that you might live.

How do you know God loves you?

I suppose that is a good question after all inquiring minds want to know right? And get this …

I am getting older. I sometimes bounce around from point to point trying to get to the correct destination which will hopefully be the answers to all of your questions. So please bear with me while I try to explain. But let me ask you …

Have you ever been willing to give your only son so that someone else could live?

Do you have any idea how much love that would take?

God Loves You and That’s A Fact!

It is a fact that God loves you with an everlasting love that can not be fathomed. His love is so boundless that it can only be known by faith.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:16-17

Cross of ChristThe little word “so” in the above verse is most expressive. It gives you some concept of the magnitude of God’s love. God so loved you, that He gave His only begotten Son, to be made sin for you, that you might become the righteousness of God through Him.

And so God gave His only Son so that you could live but then …

Christ Loved You So Much He Died For You!

Jesus, the Son of God, willingly died for you!

Why?

Because you are dead in sin.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23

What is sin?

  • Sin is lawlessness.
  • Sin is unbelief; it calls God a liar.
  • Sin is active rebellion against God.
  • Sin is passive rebellion against God.
  • All unrighteousness is sin.

God, who can not lie, said “ALL have sinned.”

“ALL” includes you.

savior of sinnersYou have sinned against God in thought, word, and deed. You have committed sins of commission and sins of omission. In the sight of God you are a lost sinner. Yet, in the twinkling of an eye that can all change and you can become righteous in God’s eyes. But first you must …

Admit to yourself and more importantly to God: “I am a lost sinner because I have sinned against God.”

Now the stage is set.

By confessing to God and yourself that you are indeed a sinner you have set the stage for your redemption to take place, your new spiritural birth because …

It Is A Fact That Christ Died For You

“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!” Romans 5: 6-10

So in order that you would have a way to overcome the sin of one man (Adam) Christ gave His life as an atonement for sin.

The love story of all time is that Jesus died for you. He took your sin upon Himself and bore the death you deserve because of man’s sin against God (Adam and Eve’s undeserved, willful rebellion against and thus their rejection of an all loving God by disobedience).

That is the love story you need to understand and cherish. That Jesus loved you so much He died, willingly, nailed hand and foot, on a cross, for you.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13

Those of us who have served in the United States armed forces know how much love and sacrifice it takes to willingly lay one’s life down for his/her friends. It happens all the time in combat. But for those who have not willingly signed a last will and testament at age 17 – 20, knowing that they may give their life so that others might live in freedom, may not fully understand the scope and magnitude of that kind of love. And, frankly, I don’t have the words to explain it.

“I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:32

Good-News-Gospel of ChristAny lifestyle and/or sin except one can be forgiven. As long as you have not committed the “unpardonable sin” (blasphemy against The Holy Spirit of God) which will never be forgiven …

You can be saved.

Not only can you be saved but Almighty God, through the blood of Jesus Christ, will heal you (if it is according to His will and plan for you). He will heal your addiction, your affliction, your spirit, your disease. He will cover you with His grace, love and mercy. You will be born again, a new creature in Christ Jesus. You will become an adopted son/daughter of Almighty God.

And if you are a loving parent is there anything you wouldn’t do for YOUR children if it is at all possible?

Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matthew 7:9-11

God can do ANYTHING.

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:27
“Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”  Genesis 18:14
“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

Sometimes He doesn’t want to do what you ask because what you ask for isn’t good for you or doesn’t fit His long range plans for you.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  jerimiah 29:11

God will ALWAYS do what is best for you.
